It just fell out!
We knew it was wiggly, but there was LOT LESS drama involved in the loss of this tooth. (Thank goodness!!!)
After it came out, there was an adventure with the tooth fairy though. Later, I'll tell you about it.

Babies!
On the Holiday break, we went to see Becca and Mike's twins!
The sweet, cute little girl is Lily and the darling, handsome little boy is Logan. Our girls LOVED the babies! They all did a good job holding and snuggling the babes.

Mechanic
He was drafted into the Army Air Force in 1942. During his training, he completed B-17 and B-29 school and was assigned, after several bases, to Walker Army Air Force Base in Victoria Kansas in January, 1945.

Science Fair
Natalie is very hard working on her Science Fair Project.
It's in March so we're getting an early start. She worked for a couple of hours yesterday and is starting in on it again now today (she has the day off of school). I am impressed with her hard work!

The Greatest Generation
Joe taught us a lot about love with his commitment to people and his family. He truly was a member of the Greatest Generation--the ones who were of age "When the United States entered World War II....ordinary Americans were asked by the U.S. government to give extraordinary service, sacrifice, and heroics..."
They rose to the occasion and succeeded. Then they went back to "ordinary life." They are "the foundation of the American way of life." We're paraphrasing what Tom Brokaw said of Joe Fusco's generation and it's definitely true of Joe.

Highlights
At Joe's funeral, we celebrated his love of life. He really lived with gusto, and he would want us to remember him that way. This post is all about how much he loved Erma.
On August 30, 1945, he met Erma Allen. Joe and Erma's kids and grandkids love hearing the story of how they met. They've heard the story told many times over the years (and have heard many versions). It's become legend.
A summary of the story (that is commonly found in all the versions) is that the two met when Erma went to a USO dance in Herrington. Erma actually went to the dance hoping to see another fella, but Joe took one look at Erma and he decided she was the girl he would marry. At that dance, he kept cutting in and not letting her dance with any one else. Erma was pleasantly annoyed.
A little later, but still in the early days of their courting, Joe showed how determined he was by going AWOL and getting thrown into Military Jail.

The Day
Christmas day started around 9 am.
I got three pictures of the stocking fun, but two were very blurry--the girls were fast moving. And then, I didn't get more pictures of the present opening craziness. I am not sure what happened.
My niece Sophie got a camera and she took this one of her and Natalie.
Here's a video of Buddy with a toy he got. You can also see the aftermath of present opening (and we weren't even done). Natalie loves playing with Buddy and the toy.
And here you can see where my brother Rob and I fry eggplant. We're both very excited about the egglant. It's our Dad's recipe and it is so amazing. I made it last Christmas too. Last Christmas I took more pictures of the little girls and less of the eggplant. Next year, I'll strive for more balance... more little girl pictures and more eggplant pictures.
Also, on the web page above you can see Mary, my sister-in-law, Sophie (our neice), Nick, and the three little girls eating dinner. It was a fun day. A few hours after dinner, we all were very stuffed, but Mary did Zumba (my favorite work out) with me.
The next day, Mary had to head down to attend a seminar for her doctoral program and Rob and Sophie headed home.
