a long time

We took a picture of this can of lighter fluid when it ran out (last summer) because Nick bought it when he was a teenager (or younger).

Here's the boy and his can. Happy Father's Day! We love you!

Preschool party

This was taken last Friday. Tia is done with PreKindergarten. Goodbye S_____ School. You were a great school and gave the girls a good start in their education! We will very much miss one of the teachers, Miss A. All three of the girls had her.

To the insect faire

We went to an insect faire. Natalie loves insects right now, and we always like a good science adventure!

Tia holds a walking stick.

It's a GIANT grasshopper. Nat holds him. I held him too. Then I had dreams that we had to eat tortillas with things like him inside. Ew!

Not an insect.

Kira chose not to partake in the holding or touching of insects. Here she is looking girly.

Nick got a beautiful shot of the redwoods.

Silkmoths

Remember when the little silkworm made its cocoon? It's a girl! Nat called her Lily instead of Lauren.

Nat and Lily

Lily and her husband (no name)-Lily is starting to lay eggs. The male silkworm was originally Nat's science partner's. Nat and her science partner's moths came out of their cocoons the same day and got married.

The future... I think we have 25 or so.

Silkworm Cocoons

EVERYWHERE! Natalie now wants to learn to spin silk. You can unravel the cocoon and get the silk as created by the silkworm, but that kills the poor little silkworm. You can also boil the cocoon, after the silkworm emerges, and spin it yourself, on a spinning wheel, from the fibers--that's what she wants to learn to do.
