Balloon animals: Another post in our Learning by doing series
Back in June, we dug out a book and balloon animal kit that my friends from work had given me. (They gave it to me back before Nat was born.)
Nat's a natural. Over the summer, she made tons of balloon animals. We think she should start a party business. She's teaching Tia, too.
On 8/10, Tia made me this... ALL BY HERSELF. Natalie wasn't even home to help. Tia explained how the balloons tell you where you can twist them.

Kira very much enjoyed the week! So did Tia and Nat, but they all liked horseback riding camp better. Less than 2 weeks until school starts.

Learning by Doing (Episode 2)
Nat's into cooking... She learned how to flip pancakes and now she's making a grilled cheese. In a few weeks, all 3 will go to cooking camp. They are super excited. Kira's been using this book (below) and cooking out of it, too. Tonight we made "toads in holes." She's also made applesauce cupcakes, raisin bread, and coffee cake--she was delighted to learn coffee cake does not contain coffee.

Learning by doing
On Thursday, the girls did the shopping and I tagged along. I played photographer. Soon, they will be making the list, too. ♥
Natalie pushed the cart and didn't run into any one or any thing. She also herded her sisters. Kira kept track of what we had gotten on the list and what we still needed to get. She also got into planning "the route" through the store after I explained how we should try to get items that were close to each other in the store at about the same time rather than just go down the list and go across the store and back again to get them in the (random) order I had written the list. Impressive display of ability from my new 7 year old. Tia was great at finding the items in the aisles, knowing what our brands are, and unpacking the cart at the checkout stand.
