West Point

 

Kira and I went to West Point (6/28-29) to see one of my former students and friend, who is a prof there.  It was very beautiful.  My friend is a historian and we learned a ton! We had a crazy fast trip. Next time I hope we can visit longer.

Flutes

 

I played flute and then Kira played flute (then she switched to trumpet).  Over the weekend, my two trumpet players who have never played flute got out the flutes and piccolo.  We had a long lesson session and they learned amazingly quick!  I've never taught people who 1) know how to read music, and 2) have a good concept of playing an instrument.  I've taught 4th graders how to make noise on the flute before, but that's as far as I got.  Super fun day!
