Cool weather gardening

In the new backyard, we have 2 big planter beds (raised and gopher proof); the two are about 150 square feet total. We're filling them with greens (see the picture above for what we're planting) and other cool weather plants.  I am so excited! This will be cross-posted to http://veryveryverygreen.blogspot.com.

Summer Memories

 

 

I forgot to post these. During Summer, Nick took the girls to a friend's house; the girls roasted marshmallows and enjoyed the fire pit. (Judi stayed home and graded papers for her summer school class. Judi resolved to not teach in summer any more!)

Walk to school

I love our morning walks to school. We can only do it on the late start day, so it's super fun once a week! I now have 3 to walk with; next year it will be 4!

We took a short walk before dinner on Saturday. The girls found this to climb on.

Wings

Nick is delighted we don't have a horse. Natalie is delighted we live 5 minutes from the stables. Win-win.  (Saturday morning)

Meet Wings

This is Wings.  Nat's new friend. Natalie got to go meet her (with her horse instructor) and now Wings has arrived at our stables. (Our horse instructor is going to lease her and care for her. Wings wasn't getting the care she needed at the other stables... She looks kind of skinny in the second photo.)

 

This is Wings and her daughter Kira (we don't know how it is spelled).

Sweet friend

This summer, we lost a sweet friend, Masai. He was the first horse Natalie fell off of, and a very patient and loving boy. We will miss you, Masai. We love you.
