Science Fair 2010
She's working hard... It's on Monday. We still have some work to do this weekend. She can almost touch type, it's going a LOT faster than last year. So cool to see her learning and able to do more.

Natalie's inspiration for her Science Fair Project.

She's doing a big report on cats and what they can do. Some of her questions...
How do cats jump high? How do cats purr? Why do cats purr? How do cats control their tail? How do cats walk quietly? Why are cats ferocious hunters? How do cats always land on their paws? Take a look!

Yup
Yup, Judi is writing another grant at work, and yup, Natalie caught another ladybug. (See this post about her bug fascination right now.)

Pictures were taken 2/20 when we went to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Natalie may have liked the lady bug better than the bridge. More soon.

Worms!

Natalie is very interested in all things bug-like. She's taken a shine to worms, not technically insects, but cool. They are such helpful creatures that we started keeping them as pets to help with some of the extra food.
She and Nick created this worm haven over the weekend. They even went and bought 50 worms and saved them from dangling on the end of a hook somewhere. We hope they are happy.

Thank you!
Thank you to Denise! She made this excellent tote for me! It's going to be perfect when I get a new toy. The tote is the perfect size to hold my purse and the new toy (and the iPhone and my camera). (Yes, I like technology.)

A Christmas present
Katie got Natalie a super fun present! She got her caterpillars from Insect Lore. Natalie loves caterpillars and the butterflies they become!

Here are the teeny tiny caterpillars that arrived two days before Christmas.
Then... about a week later...

They eat and eat and grow!

Then, when the caterpillar has eaten enough, it turns upside and pupates. You can see three chrysalises.

Here is the last caterpillar hanging upside down. It is getting ready to pupate.
And.....

Two weeks later, the chrysalis splits open and the butterfly emerges. Two weeks later, we released them on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We can't wait until the weather gets warmer so we can do it again. Natalie wants to make a garden for butterflies in our front garden area, and we just might!
